I wanted to create a variety of recipes for my site. I know there are several diets, and different restrictions that people face so wanted to have a little something for everyone.
This recipe I created this past week. I don't generally eat a lot of beef but I was craving a hamburger. I used a sirloin ground beef that was grass fed and antibiotic free.
The picture of the final product is shown with a Gluten Free Bagel (it made the picture prettier, and my kids wanted the bagel), which has ingredients in it that are not low FODMAP. It is best to be served on lettuce, I personally just ate it with a salad and no bun.
Low FODMAP Hamburgers
Makes 4 Hamburgers
Ingredients:
1 lb Grass Fed Sirloin Ground Beef
1/2 Cup Chopped Green Onion (Green Part Only)
1 Tbsp Ground Flax Seed (I buy whole flax seeds and grind them to perserve their nutrients)
3 Tbsp Water
1 tsp Thyme
1 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
2 tsp Parsley
2-3 Tbsp of Organic Tomato Paste
1/4 Cup Almond Flour
1/2 tsp Himalayan Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
Directions:
Freshly grind the flaxseed. I use a coffee grinder to grind it. This is the one I have, I love it because it has a removable stainless steel cup in it. Combine the 1 Tbsp of Ground Flaxseed with the 3 Tbsp of water and set aside for at least 5 minutes.. This is an egg replacement. You could also just use one egg if you don't have any issues with them.
Chop the green onions finely. Only use the green parts as they are the Low FODMAP. The yellow/white part are considered high FODMAP.
Place the chopped onion in a medium bowl and add the remaining ingredients. Mix well until combined. You might need to use your hands for this one.
Split the mixture into 4 sections. Roll into a ball and flatten into a hamburger like shape.
Cook on the BBQ until cooked all the way through. There aren't a great deal of low FODMAP sauces (I am going to have to create one one of these days) so I just mixed it with my salad dressing.
